Team Management Training Programme
1. How to Motivate Employees Effectively: A Modern Approach—Motivation 3.0
You will discover the power of motivational psychology and receive practical tools that will help you keep employee motivation at the highest possible level.
- The 10 most powerful universal and proactive non-financial motivators—more effective than a pay rise
- What role do employee needs play in motivation, and how can you use them effectively? Maslow’s and Herzberg’s theories, together with a practical tool for applying them
- How can you motivate employees from Generations X, Y, and Z?
- How can you regularly assess motivation levels and respond before they begin to decline? Practical tool: the Motivation Matrix™
- What is Motivation 3.0, and why does the traditional “carrot-and-stick” approach no longer work?
- How can you use rewards and recognition without reducing an employee’s motivation?
2. Feedback, Development, and Accountability—How to Manage Employees Effectively
You will learn how to provide constructive feedback based on both “pure feedback” and elements of feedforward. You will also learn how to escalate the techniques you use—up to the most decisive approaches—when your previous requests, guidance, questions, and feedback have failed to deliver results.
- Feedback—how should you speak to an employee to effectively draw attention to areas for development? You will learn several powerful techniques that produce the desired results when properly understood and applied.
- Feedback incorporating feedforward—for providing positive recognition or accelerating positive change when feedback alone is not enough: the ZFPUP technique.
- Does your employee ignore instructions, refuse to complete a task, or promise to do something and then fail to follow through? Using real situations from your workplace, the trainer will demonstrate the most effective accountability and disciplinary techniques for difficult situations. Every participant will practise these techniques from the perspective of both the manager and the employee, experiencing their effectiveness first-hand. You will learn 4AS™—an advanced proprietary technique designed to ensure both task completion and a positive working relationship.
- A performance improvement plan for an employee—practical tools and guidance for the most challenging management situations.
- Development conversations and questions that build employee accountability and proactivity—practical guidance and techniques.
3. Delegating Tasks, Setting Goals, and Evaluating Employee Performance
Delegation mistakes
You will discover the mistakes that 90% of managers make when setting goals using goal-setting forms and systems such as MPD, MPO, and IPD. These mistakes turn the entire process into little more than a box-ticking exercise and result in unfair performance reviews.
- How to delegate—effective ways to assign tasks, including:
- how to plan the distribution of work so that you can reduce your operational workload, using two practical tools: the 4GROW Delegation Model™ and Harvey Sherman’s Six Levels of Delegation;
- what language and phrases to use when assigning tasks, depending on the desired outcome, the employee’s level of competence, and your working relationship—elements of neurolinguistics applied to delegation.
- SMART is not enough. You will learn our proprietary SMART-UP model and discover how to set goals and tasks for:
- employees at operational and managerial levels,
- learners and specialists or experts,
- creative and routine-based work,
- highly engaged and less motivated employees.
- How to review and evaluate performance
- Which criteria should you use to ensure a fair performance assessment?
- How can you define objective and measurable success indicators?
- How can a fair assessment motivate employees to improve?
- You will learn an exceptionally simple, effective, and practical tool for conducting periodic performance reviews. This technique will give your employees confidence that they are being assessed fairly while helping you identify their competencies and talents.
4. Team Management Styles—How to Adapt Your Style to the Employee and the Situation
You will learn practical situational management models and discover how to adapt your leadership style flexibly.
- Situational Leadership—the Hersey–Blanchard model: how to identify an employee’s development level and select the most appropriate management style, tools, and techniques:
- R1—Enthusiastic Beginner
- R2—Disillusioned Learner
- R3—Capable but Cautious Performer
- R4—Self-Reliant Achiever
- Leadership styles according to the Blake–Mouton Managerial Grid
- How to adapt your management style to an employee’s competence and engagement levels
5. The Manager’s Role—Effective Team Management, Work Organisation, and Employee Development
Managing an employee is both a process and a continuous cycle. To ensure that their teams work effectively, leaders need sufficient time to fulfil four essential management functions:
- organising,
- delegating,
- motivating,
- monitoring and evaluating performance.
During the training, you will learn techniques and tools that will help you perform these functions effectively. Together, they form a complete employee management cycle that connects all elements of the programme:
- Setting goals and tasks
- Identifying an employee’s needs, motivators, and demotivators
- Delegating responsibility
- Monitoring task completion and providing support appropriate to the employee’s competence level
- Ensuring accountability based on performance indicators
- Evaluating project or task completion and employee performance
- Reviewing progress through a periodic performance conversation and defining a development path
In addition, the tools and techniques you practise and take away with you will help you counteract Patrick Lencioni’s Five Dysfunctions of a Team: absence of trust, fear of conflict, lack of commitment, avoidance of accountability, and inattention to results.
Throughout the training, the trainer will draw your attention to your language and body language in the context of building your authority as a leader. Neurolinguistics offers powerful insights that will help you use language more consciously and effectively.
Lead your team to new heights of motivation, engagement, and performance...
